Hechi University

Hechi University grew out of former Hechi Normal College which was founded in 1951 and it was approved by the Ministry of Education to upgrade into Hechi University in April 2003.

The campus covers an area of more than 400,000 square meters and houses about 900,000 volumes of books and over 300,000 kinds of e-books. It has roughly 12,600 full-time students from 15 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government.

Hechi University has established cooperative relationship with Thailand's North Bangkok University, Chiang Mai University, Siam University, Thepsatri Rajabhat University, Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University, Dhurakij Pundit University, Indonesia University of Education, Pasundan University, Maranatha Christian University in Indonesia, as well as Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture. It has also signed the letter of intent on exchange programs with Taiwan's Tungnan University, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology and Shoufu University.

Among 720 faculty members, there are 570 full-time teachers, including 180 plus holding senior academic titles. A total of 431 teachers have obtained master's degree and 14 are postgraduate student supervisors.

The university has a group of excellent teachers with national and provincial level honor. There are 11 colleges and 48 undergraduate majors covering nine disciplines, including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management and arts. With years of development, the university has six discipline categories -- chemical and biotechnology, teacher education, economy and management, mechanical and electrical information, cultural creativity and communication, and mathematics and statistics.

It also has a group of platforms for constructing discipline. Among them, the Chinese language and literature is a state-level characteristic discipline; ethnology and biochemistry are key disciplines of the autonomous region; literature and art and applied chemistry are the key disciplines of Guangxi's universities and colleges; modern and contemporary Chinese literature is the advantageous subject of Guangxi's universities and colleges.
