The State Grid Yangzhou Branch announced on March 21 to set 147 electric vehicle  (EV) charging piles at the city's central areas and traffic hubs this year, sparking public interest.

The charging piles are part of a series of handy services streamlined to meet public demand for cleaner environment.

The installation of EV charging piles will cater for Yangzhou residents' ever-increasing demand for electric cars and also to answer the local government's calls to develop an urban "three-kilometer-charging" circle which will ensure the worry-free commuting of EVs and offer users timely access to various charging services.

Meanwhile, the first fleet of 12 sharing EVs hit the roads in Yangzhou in January. According to local officials, a total of about 400 sharing EVs will be in operation in the city by the end of this year.
