Yangzhou Polytechnic College (YZPC) is a full-time comprehensive vocational college founded in 1984, through the merger of Yangzhou Polytechnic College, Yangzhou College of Education, Yangzhou Environmental Resources Vocational School, and Yangzhou Radio and TV College. At present, the school has more than 13,600 full-time students and more than 11,000 students pursuing adult amateur or open education.
The campus occupies a total area of 1,100 mu (73 hectares) and the building area is nearly 400,000 square meters. There are more than 360 basic and specialized laboratories at the school; the total value of teaching equipment there is about 188 million yuan. The school library has a collection of over 1.55 million books, 1.4 million e-books, and more than 2,000 kinds of journals and magazines.
The school currently offers 68 majors in 17 categories, such as agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, resources security and environment, energy power and materials, civil engineering, equipment manufacturing, biology and chemical industry, light industry textiles, food and medicine, transportation, electronic information, medical and health, finance and trade, tourism, culture and arts, news communication, education and sports, and public management and services.
The school has also conducted seven Sino-foreign cooperative education projects with universities from France, the United States, Canada, and South Korea, and has established sister school relationships with colleges and universities from more than 10 countries and regions. The average employment rate of graduates from YZPC has for three consecutive years reached 99 percent.
