Outbreaks of school bullying will be tackled by revising the law, the national top legislature said on Monday.

Wang Shengming, vice-chairman of the Internal and Judicial Affairs Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress, said that they will propose to amend the Juvenile Protection Law and the law to prevent juveniles committing crimes, “and will study school bullying and find related solutions through the revisions,” he added.

He made the remarks at a press conference on legislation on Monday during the ongoing first session of 13th NPC.

School bullying and violence is an issue that the NPC Standing Committee, the top legislative body, and the related departments of the State Council, will address, he said. “When everyone pays attention to an issue, it will be solved soon.”

Campus safety has raised public awareness across the country over the past few years.

Early this month, the Ministry of Education promised to make schools the “brightest and safest” places, saying the safety of students and teachers is always the top priority.

The authority also stressed the importance of everyday management and punishment in line with laws to prevent school bullying and violence.
