2. Buses

Public buses in Guangzhou have no conductors and passengers are expected to prepare the exact payment or use the “Yang Cheng Tong” (or "Lingnan Pass") magnetic card to pay the fare. Fare is RMB 2 for all major routes in the city regardless of the distance. On some routes, passengers may pay a portion of the full fare (called section fare). A 40% discount is given to passengers who use "Yang Cheng Tong" to pay fares for rides on buses (metro trains and water buses") more than 15 times in a calendar month. A passenger may bring a luggage onto a bus with up to 30 kilograms in weight, 0.1 cubic meters in volume, and 1.6 meters in height (length). The luggages that are more than 30 kilograms in weight, over 0.1 cubic meters in volume or over 1.6 meters In height (length) (with the exception of strollers, necessary supporting tools such as wheelchair and guide stick for the disabled, as well as folding bicycle that does not exceed the above specification) are not allowed on the bus. 3. Water buses (including ferry services)

As of July 2016, there was 14 "water bus" routes with 28 wharfs in Guangzhou, Fare is RMB 2/person-time for air-conditioned "water bus" routes less than 10 kilometers long, and for each additional 10 kilometers, the fare increases by RMB 1/person-time. Fare for non-air-conditioned "water buses" is half of the fare for air-conditioned ones. Unless they are explicitly allowed, each passenger can only carry baggage whose total weight up to 20 kilograms, whose volume up to 0.3 cubic meters, or whose sum of exterior dimensions equal to or less than 1.5 meters (for stick items, their dimension up to 2 meters is allowed). Baggage that does not meet the above specification is not allowed on the ship. This rule does not apply to wheelchairs, guide sticks and other tools used by disabled people. Fares for "water buses" can be paid with cash or "Yang Cheng Tong". A 40 percent discount is given to passengers who use "Yang Cheng Tong" to pay fares for rides on "water buses"(or bus, metro) more than 15 times in a calendar month.

4. Taxis

In Guangzhou, taxi fares start at RMB 10 for the first 2.5 kilometers and increase by RMB 2.6 for each additional kilometer in trips of up to 35 kilometers. For trips over 35 kilometers, an additional 50% of the meter fare applies. A waiting fee of RMB 26 per hour applies, and there is no bunker adjustment surcharge and night surcharge. Tolls for roads and bridges requiring additional fees are to be additionally paid by the passenger. Taxi drivers and front-seat passengers must wear safety belts. Ask for a machine-printed fare receipt at the end of your trip, and don't forget to take your baggage.
