A business delegation consisting of over 60 representatives from innovative Japanese enterprises paid a visit to Qianhai in Shenzhen on March 5, seeking to strengthen cooperation with technology companies in the southern Chinese city.

According to officials from Shenzhen's international trade promotion council, the city is currently home to over 30,000 technology companies which form a powerful innovation cluster. The event will give companies from Shenzhen and Japan the chance to communicate and exchange ideas.

The delegation comes after a previous visit to Qianhai by the Japan-China Economic Association (JCEA) in November 2017. Impressed by the last trip, JCEA returns this time with peers from Innovation Network Corporation of Japan and Japan-based New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization.

The delegation was taken to the Shenzhen Qianhai Exhibition Center, Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Dreamworks and Shenzhen Hengyu Qianhai International Financial Center, where they gained a detailed understanding of Qianhai's industries and development process.

Wang Yanxia, director of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone Management Bureau, said Qianhai is pushing ahead with its action plan to promote innovation and establish a new economic structure which combines the financial sector, high technologies and free trade zones. It will roll out more preferential policies for companies and create a better business environment. Wang hopes that events like this will lead to more innovative cooperation between Chinese and Japanese companies and encourage more overseas projects to settle in Qianhai.
