A team of 110 UN peacekeepers landed in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on March 1 after their one-year mission in Liberia.

Five members came from Hechi - Wei Dechen, Wei Feilong, Ma Yilong, Chen Huawu and Wei Hongtao.

They were warmly welcomed at a ceremony held by the leading group for peacekeeping police under the Ministry of Public Security at the Nanning Wuxu International Airport.

The riot police squad has carried out over 700 operations, dispatched 130,000 personnel, and traveled the equivalent of two times around the equator, covering 110,000 kilometers since they were deployed on March 11, 2017.

After risking their lives for the peace and stability of Liberia, the peacekeeping forces received the UN Peace Medal of Honor for their outstanding service and gained praise from local residents as "diplomats in uniform".

The unit was the fifth and final sent by China to join the peacekeeping mission in Liberia.
