Sanbadao (Chinese: 三把刀) is a characteristic word that originates from Yangzhou, Jiangsu province.
The word signifies the national-level intangible cultural heritages of three kinds of knives, the kitchen knife, pedicure knife, and haircut knife.
With thousands of years of skill improvement and generations of craftsmen going out of Yangzhou to earn a living, the word has become a notable local brand and now resembles the three characteristic industries in Yangzhou, the Huaiyang cuisine, pedicure salon, and hairdressing.
Yangzhou government decided to carry forward the Sanbadao tradition and make it better integrate with local landscape.
The planning area is set along Changchun road in the Slender West Lake Scenic Spot, Yangzhou's most renowned park which has amazed numerous visitors for its graceful natural beauty and architecture.
According to the local regulatory commission, the planning area will cover a total of 28,000 square meters. It will take about five years before final completion and will be home to various maker centers, master studios, museums, restaurants, and hair salons.
"We will make Yangzhou culture better bond with modern ideas and please our visitors with more considerate services," an official said.
