Baotou marks new tourism progress in 2017

Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region marked new progress in its tourism industry with total tourism revenues hitting 50.48 billion yuan ($7.95 billion) during 2017, representing year-on-year growth of 24.88 percent, according to a Feb 26 Baotou Daily report.

The city received 14.28 million tourists in total during 2017, year-on-year growth of 18.06 percent.

A total of 66 key tourism projects were carried out in 2017, drawing investment of 35.05 billion yuan. Among the 66 key projects, 33 were new projects worth 18.42 billion yuan, and 33 were ongoing projects worth 16.62 billion yuan.

Highlights of the city’s achievements also included Wudang Lamasery being placed on the tentative list for national 5A-level scenic areas. The lamasery has already passed the preliminary assessment conducted by the National Tourism Administration.
