Dechang Environmental Protection Technology has just launched its latest project at the Yahe Industrial Area. The project which is to build a biomass power plant is aimed at making use of abundant biomass resources more efficiently to generate electricity for Nanyang.

As Henan province's largest grain producing area and one of the nation's five concentrated wheat growing areas, Nanyang annually produces large quantities of straw. Traditionally most of the straw is burnt by farmers during the wheat harvesting season, harming the environment.

The new plant is designed and has been approved to curb environmental pollution of this kind by using such resources like straw as fuel. With an installed power-generating capacity of 30 MW, the facility can dispose 230,000 tons of straws and other agricultural residuals each year, while generating an annual energy output of 216 million kWh.

An investment of 350 million yuan ($55.2 million) has been made so far with dedicated support from its parent company Dechang Environmental Protection, a joint venture of electronic industry leaders China Delixi and CHKO Electric Group from Wenzhou, Zhejiang province. The new development will rely on the firm's independent R&D capacity to ensure high efficiency and environmental protection, where some of their cutting-edge technologies have achieved global recognition.
