Watching dragon and lion dances, solving lantern riddles and eating yuanxiao (sweet dumplings made of glutinous rice flour) are a few of the most popular activities across China during the Lantern Festival.

The Lantern Festival, which is usually on the 15th day of the first lunar month, falls on March 2 this year. It is one of the most significant traditional festivals in China.

With this year's Lantern Festival only one day away, Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has prepared a wide variety of activities for locals. Millions of lanterns have been hung in Huishan Ancient Town, which will hold lantern festivals, folk opera performances and light shows.

Citizens will have the opportunity to celebrate the annual festival in the traditional way by solving lantern riddles at Ganlu Temple in E'hu town, Baicaoyuan Bookstore on Nanchangjie, China Decheng Square in Meili town, and the Wuxi Cultural Museum in Wuxi Xishuidun Cultural Park.

The four events are all organized by the Wuxi Lantern Riddle Society to preserve the traditional way of celebrating the Chinese Lantern Festival. Ganlu Temple in E'hu town has hung 5,000 lanterns and will feature 2,000 original lantern riddles, making it the biggest lantern riddle event in Wuxi.

With the help of modern technology, this year's event at Ganlu Temple allows participants to solve riddles with a mobile app. Visitors can enter the quiz number and their answer to win random cash hongbaos in WeChat.
