Large airliners maintenance and repair business of Xiamen aviation maintenance industry base was further expanded as the second A380 airliner, the largest one of its kind in the world, waited for maintenance at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport on Feb 26.

At the beginning of December last year, the first A380 airliner flew to Xiamen for maintenance.

Taikoo Aircraft Engineering Co, a Xiamen-based enterprises of civil aircraft maintenance, undertook the business, which is the first time for the company to maintain the long-range, wide-body jet airliner.

There are more than 100 tasks that are required to be completed, including six-year regular checkup, paint spraying, and face-lifting of passenger doors and fuel pipes.

It only took 82 days for Taikoo to finish all the tasks and the airliner successfully took off from Xiamen on Feb 24.

The maintenance and repair of the second A380 airliner will still be undertaken by Taikoo for its outstanding performance on the first A380.

A one-stop airplane maintenance base has taken shape in Xiamen pilot free trade zone after 14 airplane maintenance companies from home and abroad have settled here.
