2017 in review: Guiyang released top 10 big data news of the year

6. An all-round management system of the access to and sharing of government data has been built.

Guiyang's overall solution to the access to and sharing of government data was a pproved by experts at State Information Center in Beijing on May 18, 2017.

This marked the establishment of China's first all-round management system of the access to and sharing of government data and has set an example for other cities to follow.

7. Guiyang was authorized to build China's first big data and cyber security demonstration pilot city.

Guiyang was named as China's first "big data and cyber security demonstration pilot city" by the Ministry of Public Security last April.

The 2017 Guiyang Big Data and Cyber Security Attack and Defense Exercise was held in the city in November.

8. A huge breakthrough has been made in the application of block chain and artificial intelligence technologies.

Guiyang issued a white paper for the development and application of block chain on Dec 31, 2016 and has made a huge breakthrough in the past year.

Moreover, it has carried out strategic cooperation with some major tech giants including Intel to develop its artificial intelligence industry.

9. China's first big data engineering laboratory was launched in Guiyang HIDZ.

China's first big data engineering laboratory was launched in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (HIDZ) on May 24, 2017, which is expected to help improve government management efficiency.

The lab has several functions, including collecting and analyzing administrative data, improving data privacy protection and applying big data technology to government decision making, clean government supervision, social management and public services.

10. The annual big data expo was upgraded into a national-level event.

Guiyang International Big Data Expo, as the world's first big-data-themed Expo, has been successfully held for three consecutive years in Guiyang. In 2017, it was officially upgraded into a national-level expo and thus renamed China International Big Data Industry Expo.

Over the past three years, the expo has highlighted "global vision", "national interests", "industry roles" and "corporate responsibilities", serving as a platform for global big data professionals, organizations and entrepreneurs to jointly discuss industry trends while presenting and analyzing their achievements.
