Ordos’ town secures three national honors within 2 months

Wudinghe town in the Uxin Banner of Ordos received two honors at a meeting co-chaired by the China Council for the Promotion of Environment and Forestry, China’s State Newspaper People’s Daily and the National Development and Reform Commission, for its outstanding work in developing industrial amalgamation and rural tourism, in January 2018.

Themed “promoting green development, building a beautiful China”, the meeting saw more than 300 attendees, including scholars, journalists, experts in the field and representatives from the government who discussed issues on ecological protection.

During the meeting, a list of cities and towns was announced, praising them all for their achievements in ecological protection.

In December 2017, Wudinghe town was crowned one of the most beautiful rural tourism destinations in a survey jointly conducted by the Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily and the Research Center for China’s National Conditions.

The town is the birthplace of Salawusu Culture, which can be traced back 35,000 years. It is well-known for its high-quality local agricultural produce such as apples, rice, honey, cabbages and corn.

Asia’s largest sand valley is located in the town, as well as a national-level wetland park and a 4A-level scenic spot.
