The newly developed scenic site, Kangzhen Town scenic area, in Kangbashi district, Ordos, ushered in its first temple fair to celebrate the Spring Festival, which was held on Feb 16 and will run until March 3.

The temple fair features nine activities held along different themes, such as a light show, folk custom performances, traditional Chinese wedding ceremony performances, and food festivals.

The fair provides fun for the whole family, as there are activities that cater specifically to children. Parents can take their little ones to paint on lanterns, which is regarded as an important traditional activity. An amusement park for children is also available during the 15-day event.

The scenic site of Kangzhen Town in Ordos was opened to the public last year. It covers an area of 218,000 square meters, drawing a total investment of 350 million yuan ($55.27 million).

The scenic area displays local folk customs, music, handicrafts and food in Ordos as well as other cultural elements of Northwest China. It aims to be a demonstrative site for intangible culture in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
