Japan Murata Manufacturing Co launched a new $1.1 billion project in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Feb 8. The investment is expected to bring in 7.5 billion yuan in sales.

Murata is a world-famous high-end electronic component supplier that set up its Wuxi subsidiary branch in 1994. Wuxi Murata, located in the Wuxi Hi-tech Zone, has received a total of $562 million in investments and achieved a sales figure of 6.2 billion yuan ($559 million) in 2017, making it Murata's biggest foreign manufacturing base.

With an annual output of 6.2 billion yuan ($981.3 million), Wuxi has become Murata's largest overseas production base, manufacturing up to 40 percent of the world's electronic devices. According to a recently signed agreement, two additional plants will be set up in Wuxi at the Murata Innovation and Intelligent Manufacturing Park, which is expected to bring in 7.5 billion yuan in sales.
