Dalian confirms 18 tourism projects worth 2.4b yuan

Dalian of Northeast China’s Liaoning province confirmed a total of 18 key tourism projects at a tourism work conference held on Feb 7, according to local media.

The projects, including a Ritz-Carlton Hotel project to be developed in Zhongshan district, and a town with cultural characteristics project to be built in Huayuankou economic zone, will draw an investment of 2.37 billion yuan ($377 million).

According to the work conference, more efforts will also be made in developing “all-for-one” tourism, a concept mentioned by Premier Li Keqiang in the Government Work Report he delivered at the fifth plenary session of the 12th National People's Congress. “All-for-one” tourism focuses on the upgrading and integration of tourism resources, public services, systems and mechanisms, regulations and policies to boost economic development by using tourism as the new engine for growth.

The total tourism revenue is expected to grow by around 12 percent in 2018. And the number of tourists is expected to increase by 10 percent.

Known as the Pearl of the North in China, Dalian city was selected as one of the domestic model cities for travel and leisure and was entitled as China’s most beautiful travel destination in 2017.

The city received 85.18 million tourists in 2017, year-on-year growth of 10.08 percent, marking a new progress in its tourism industry. The total tourism revenue of 2017 hit 128 billion yuan.
