By the end of 2017, the total mileage of rural roads in Inner Mongolia has reached 158,000 km, of which 39,000 km are county roads, 39,000 km are township roads, and 80,000 km are village roads. 11,545 villages in the region have built asphalt concrete roads.

In recent years, Inner Mongolia has adhered to the construction of rural roads as one of the most strategical livelihood-improvement projects. Apart from infrastrature construction, the region has also continuously improved its policy mechanisms and the reform of maintenance system to guarantee the coordinative and sustanable development of rural transport.

Roads have become a major path of tackling poverty and rejuvenating the rural areas to build an overall well-to-do society.
