Penglai Tourist Resort gains national recognition

The Penglai Tourist Resort has been included in the list of nine national-level tourist resorts issued by the China National Tourism Administration on Jan 9.

On par with 5A-level scenic spots, national-level tourist resort represents the highest level of China's tourism services.

The Penglai Tourist Resort sticks to the development goal of "all-for-one" tourism, a term mentioned in the 2017 government work report, to cater to the growing demands for tourism products and services while facilitating economic transition.

A series of festivals and competitions held in Penglai, such as the International Youth Culture and Art Festival, International Wine Marathon, and China Acrobatics Golden Chrysanthemum Contest, has helped boost the profile of the tourist resort. With the building of tourist areas, entertainment parks, pedestrian streets and hotels, the resort has gained new development momentum.

Through unremitted efforts, health maintenance, coastal leisure and tasting wine have become new name cards for the resort. In 2017, the resort received more than 10 million tourists, generating a revenue of 13 billion yuan ($2 billion) with a growth rate of 14.5 percent compared to 2016.
