An offshore innovation and startup base for overseas talents, the first of its kind in Fujian province, was recently established in Yunchuang Valley, the smart park in the Xiamen free trade zone.

By offering overseas talents resources relevant to innovation and startups, the base is expected to serve as an international startup platform integrating talent attraction, enterprise incubation, and technology transfer.

"Xiamen's industrial upgrading requires more foreign technologies and the base will help the coastal city attract necessary advanced technologies, outstanding talents and innovative projects," said Cai Bikai, the head of the Xiamen free trade zone.

Cai said that the base is now embarking on establishing overseas pre-incubators in Silicon Valley in the US, Sydney, Australia and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to offer technology transfer at the pre-incubation level.

With an expected area of 1,400 square meters, the base will house office areas, exhibition halls for foreign technologies and startup achievements, a salon for entrepreneurs and road show halls.

The Yunchuang Valley has contributed a lot to the incubation of innovative startups with 20 maker spaces and more than 450 enterprises having settled in the park from the mobile internet, cross-border e-commerce, artificial intelligence and other industries.
