Apart from the beautiful flowers, folk custom performances, lantern shows and traditional flower themed temple fairs, there will also be informational activities for people who want to know the city better.

The two dog mascots, Huahua and Chengcheng, which literally means "flower" and "city" in a doting matter, were unveiled at the press conference to promote the event. You will be able to see rice flower, kapok (Guangzhou's city flower) and spring festival themes in the design of these two cute mascots.

There are deep meanings to the themes chosen according to Ye Zhenghua, mascot designer and Guangzhou Academy of the Fine Arts professor, as the dogs celebrate the upcoming Year of the Dog while the rice flowers represents "穗", the city's abbreviated name in Chinese.

The mascots will be on display at flower fairs across the city during the Spring Festival and fair-goers will also be able to interact with them through smart phones as their designs were integrated with internet technologies.
