A team comprising of 15 medical staff from First Harbin Hospital recently paid a visit to Hongguang village in Qiqihar, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, to provide free medical services for villagers living in poverty.

Around 150 villagers who suffer from diseases such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, coronary heart disease, cancer, mental illness and MoF (multiple organ failure) received consultations and treatment from the medical team. They also obtained free medicine provided by the Harbin hospital.

To provide extra convenience for villagers and help cut the transport cost of traveling from the village to the Harbin hospital, a remote-controlled video medical consultation service will be provided every Friday. Villagers who need a consultation just need to submit applications to the village doctors in advance so that they can be allocated a time.

The service is expected to help lift villagers out of poverty by cutting medical costs.
