Nobel Prize winners delve into urbanization of new kind

The Earth Civilization Conference is set to take place in Xiamen, a coastal city in Fujian province from Jan 23 to 24, exploring how to promote the construction of a urbanization of new kind.

Edvard Moser, Nakamura Shuji, Arieh Warshel, three Nobel Prize winners in medicine, physics, and chemistry and seven other experts in economy, technology and culture will attend the conference.

With the theme of "usher in earth era 1.0", the conference intends to integrate the civilizations from around the world to establish an international cooperation community and forecast the development trend of human civilization.

Wei Jie, the event's initiator and president of JG Group, a leading a modern city development company in China, hopes that experts from different cultural backgrounds can share their different views about city development and dig into the general characteristics of human civilization.

Wei will also launch an earth civilization fund on the first day of the event with an expected investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.51 billion) in the first two years to support relevant technological research.

The JG Group utilizes global resources and introduces advanced technology, industrial and commercial modes to manage its special towns, aiming to create an urban ecosystem integrating residents, industries and favorable environment.

The group had successfully possessed 59 such special towns by the end of September 2017 with a contract value of 570 billion yuan with the local Chinese government.
