The staff at Nansha Wetland Park took a picture of 39 platalea minors on Jan 21, which is the highest number of the species under second-class state protection having been found in the Nansha Wetland of Guangzhou.

As an endangered species, only some 3,940 platelea minors still exist in the world. The Nansha Wetland has attracted an increasing number of platalea minors in recent years. Ten of them visited the park in 2014, and around 20 of them came each year over the past three years.
