Nanhu Park (South Lake Park) in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, will hold a New Year lantern festival on Jan 20, according to a recent news report.

It has been 15 years since Nanhu Park last hosted a festival of this kind. This year’s lantern festival will form part of the 2018 Shenyang international ice and snow festival, and will last until March 4.

A 1.6-kilometer-long lantern corridor will be constructed for visitors. Hundreds of 3D lanterns will also be on display, featuring images including the Kung Fu Panda, the Lion King, and dogs celebrating the New Year.

“This year, we will host the lantern festival again, and we hope this tradition will continue, to promote traditional culture to more people,” said the park’s manager.

Activities including snow-based entertainment, a food festival, lantern riddle competitions, and a photography show will also be held during the lantern festival.
