As the representatives of the 51 honorary citizens in Wuxi, Tatakashi Ichiro from Japan and Jin Jinxie from South Korea attended the second session of the 16th Wuxi Municipal People's Congress as nonvoting delegates on Jan 7.

They listened to the report on last year's work of the Wuxi municipal government made by mayor Wang Quan during the conference.

They are more attached to Wuxi than their hometowns after so many years' living and working in the city and are also full of confidence about Wuxi's future.

The eighty-three-year-old Tatakashi Ichiro, chairman of the China-Japan Cultural and Economic Exchange Association, was awarded honorary citizenship in 2012.

Tatakashi Ichiro wore a red tie to express his happiness, saying, “I came to Wuxi every month over the past eight years and feel honored to have witnessed the many achievements the vigorous city has made.”

It is the second time that Jin Jinxie, general manager of Sangsin Brake Company, attended the conference as an observer.

"I've been working in Wuxi for nine years and have seen more and more foreign enterprises invest in the city," Jin said. "I hope that Wuxi will make more attempts in multicultural communication to help all the foreigners living in the city get along well with local residents and integrate into the local culture."
