A ceremony was held in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, to award residents who have participated in the city’s walking activities on Dec 30, reports Baotou Daily.

Selected as one of the pilot cities for health promotion, Baotou has been engaged in developing its health industry.

The sports bureau of Baotou launched a weekly brisk walking activity on April 22, 2017, to promote residents’ awareness of health and fitness. A total of 27 brisk walks were held in Baotou city in 2017, attracting some 500,000 participants.

A resident surnamed Hou has long been a fan of walking activities held in the city, and spoke highly of the activities, considering them fun and healthy.

Li Jun, who established a walking club in Hondlon district, has witnessed the number of members of his walking club grow to more than 300.

“We took part in every session of the weekly walking activity and we will continue to be a part of it,” Li explained.
