Guangzhou ranks 7th among provincial capitals for air quality

Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province ranked seventh among 31 provincial capitals and five cities specifically designated in the state plan in terms of the number of good air quality days in 2017, according to a report issued by China Meteorological Administration.

The report states that Guangzhou had a total of 337 days with an air quality index (AQI) reaching "Good" and "Moderate" in 2017, following Kunming (354 days) in Yunnan province, Xiamen (353 days) in Fujian province, Haikou (352 days) in Hainan province, Fuzhou (351 days) in Fujian province, Lhasa (350 days) in Tibet autonomous region, Shenzhen (350 days) in Guangdong province and Guiyang (345 days) in Guizhou province.

The report also mentions that Guangzhou received the most rainfall in the past year among provincial capitals with total annual precipitation reaching 2,085.5 millimeters. The total rainfall amount in the city last year stands at 4 billion cubic meters, almost four times the volume of Miyun Reservoir in Beijing, the report says.
