According to statistics released from the job fair organizers, overseas talents were not only recruited by large-scale enterprises and multinational corporations, but also pursued by many Guangzhou-based small and medium-sized companies wishing to go global.

After obtaining their job positions, many of the expats have been striving to blend in with Guangzhou while their companies have also been strengthening efforts to make them feel at home while working in the city.

According to Alessio di Luciano, a Spanish national who studied in Guangzhou and obtained employment as a result of the job fair, being able to speak mandarin and Cantonese are very advantageous qualities to have and he is confident about his future development in the southern Chinese city.

Zoe Fischer from Germany said she really felt a strong sense of belonging when she was invited to join a wide range of cultural activities organized by her company.

"The activities covering tea art, ceramic craft, folk music, martial arts and seal engraving offer me a great chance to gain a better understanding of the Chinese culture," Zoe said.
