Pingtan in Southeast China's Fujian province has reached a strategic agreement with Chinese leading delivery company Yunda Express on Dec 28, as part of its efforts to further its logistics industry development.

As an island city located off the coast of Fujian, Pingtan is the closest place on the mainland to Taiwan, and has long prioritized logistics development with the aim of building itself into a regional logistics hub.

The establishment of a partnership with Yunda is expected to inject new vitality into the logistics industry in the city, according to Lai Jiqiu, vice director of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone Administrative Committee.

He said Pingtan has rolled out an array of preferential policies to support logistics development, and the strategic cooperation relationship reached with Yunda, a renowned delivery firm nationwide, will achieve a win-win result and speed up the city's development into an international logistics hub.

His comments were echoed by Lai Shiqiang, vice president of Yunda Express'operation department.

He said Yunda attaches great significance to cross-border e-commerce business in its development process, and a logistics network covering a total of 16 countries including Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Singapore and South Korea has been set up.

"As one of the cross-border e-commerce pilot cities in China, Pingtan has witnessed continuous improvement in infrastructure construction and bonded business, which offered a fundamental basis for logistics development," he said, adding that Yunda aspires to deepen cooperation with Pingtan in further expanding its presence in cross-border business and offering high-quality logistic services for residents and companies across the Taiwan Strait.
