High-tech district boasts most tech-based businesses

Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone now boasts 61 high tech-based companies with 26 newly added to the list this year, to rank first in Baotou city, according to a Dec 25 Baotou Daily report.

Approved by the State Council in 1992, the zone is the only high-tech zone dedicated to the rare earth industry among China’s 53 national high tech zones, and is the only national-level high-tech zone in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The district has been making strides in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship with steps including setting up incubators, and hosting innovation competitions targeting college and university students.
