Nansha to build intl distribution center to serve the Greater Bay Area

Guangzhou's Nansha district have signed a cooperation agreement with TOP Ideal SCM, a leading logistics company in China, to establish an international distribution center.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Superior Products International Distribution Center will be constructed by TOP Ideal SCM and world shipping giant Maersk Damco. The project will cover the construction of smart multi-function warehouses and foreign trade customs clearance service systems.

Cai Chaolin, Party Chief of Nansha district; Zhang Liping, deputy inspector of Guangzhou municipal commission of commerce; Xie Ming, vice director of Guangzhou Development District Management Committee, Hong Zhiquan, chairman of TOP Ideal SCM; Gu Qing, director of Global E-commerce department of Maersk Damco; Song Xiaoming, vice general manager of Guangzhou Port Group attended the contract-signing ceremony.

According to Gu, two main reasons lead to their decision to settle the project in Nansha district. One is the district's favorable geographic location which enables the shipping and logistics business to impose a positive influence on the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries. Preferential policies launched by Nansha district in order to stimulate the logistics industry was the other reason.

During the past few years, Nansha district has rolled out a range of policies to boost its logistics and shipping industries. The district has been striving to promote the construction of high-end logistics company cluster and build the core function zone of the international shipping hub.
