A trade fair featuring food from Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province was held at Shanghai Agricultural Exhibition Center from Dec 15 to 18.

The event ran for four days and displayed foods from Harbin to promote products to markets in Shanghai, and the neighboring Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. The event is also a good opportunity for investors to link up with projects, and acts as a platform to deepen industrial cooperation with other cities.

With a theme of "eco-friendly ice city, green summer capital", the event has attracted 123 food businesses from Harbin to Shanghai to promote food products.

Several exhibition areas have been set up at the expo, housing over 1,000 kinds of food from seven categories, including grains and oil, meat, poultry, vegetables, drinks and snacks.

The fair features the time-honored food brands of Harbin, such as Wuchang Rice, Harbin Smoked Sausage and Tonghe Rice. Additionally, over 90 percent of the displayed products are organic.

It was the sixth time that this kind of trade fair has been held in Shanghai.

Statistics from the organizers of the fair revealed that around 600 Harbin food businesses had participated in the event held in Shanghai during the previous five fairs. Deals valued at 20 billion yuan ($3.02 billion) were signed, and retail sales of food hit 10 million yuan.
