Five Dragon Pools Scenic Area

Located about 35 kilometers away from the city proper of Ningbo, Five Dragon Pools Scenic Area (五龙潭景区) was rated as a national 4A-level tourist spot, the second highest level recognized by China's National Tourism Administration in 2005.

Hidden in the mountainous region of Yinzhou district, the pools are part of a scenic area featuring streams, waterfalls and a mild climb that guides you through five natural pond formations, each named after a dragon. Visitors can enjoy the natural landscape of creeks, waterfalls, grotesque rocks and perilous peaks and have a glimpse of the Chinese Dragon culture, the local mountaineer customs of East Zhejiang, and the local folk customs.

On the right of the entrance to the area is a 400-year-old Guandi and Dragon Temple. The temple has gone through countless reconstructions and the present small temple was renovated in the 1990s.
