Baotou Jiuyuan Industrial Park

Baotou Jiuyuan Industrial Park (包头九原工业园区) is located in Jiuyuan district. It was approved in April 2006 and started construction in 2007, with a planning area of 77.86 square kilometers. It is one of 24 autonomous-region-level industrial parks.

The park has advantages in abundant mineral, water, electricity and land resources. What’s more, it’s convenient for transportation and provides speedy logistic services through its connections with Nanraocheng Highway and Baotou-Lanzhou Railway.

As of 2015, the leading industrial project in the park was the Shenhua coalification project, which attracted a total investment of 16.6 billion yuan ($2.52 billion) and started construction in May, 2007. The project will largely promote development of coalification industrial clusters and other industries.
