Biopharmaceutical industry

Hohhot's biopharmaceutical industry has developed rapidly, making it one of the six pillar industries in the city. It has biological fermentation companies such as the Yuanhe Pharmaceutical Co and Inner Mongolia Datang Pharmaceutical Co, which make the city one of China's largest bio-fermentation bases. It has also promoted native Mongolian medicines through projects with the Qilu Pharmaceutical Co and CSPC Pharmaceutical Group, for example. The industry has kept a steady growth in the first ten months of 2017, with the industrial value-added output of 105.4 billion yuan ($15.9 billion), a year-on-year growth of 15.7 percent.
