The Jiangdu Economic Development Zone (江苏省江都经济开发区) is an important development zone along the Yangtze River in Jiangsu province. It covers about 100 square kilometers and is divided into four sectors: an equipment manufacturing industry base, Binjiang Science and Technology City, a port logistics region and a landscape area along the Yangtze River.
Industries such as electrical and mechanical metallurgy, vehicle and watercraft manufacturing, software and electronic information, port logistics and new building materials are of major importance.
Such State-owned enterprises as China Shipping, China COSCO, AVIC International, CITIC Pacific, CSSC, PetroChina, Baosteel Metal and CONCH have all settled in the zone. Two major industries — auto and spare parts manufacturing, and special steel production and processing — have set up in the zone. And approval has been granted for the development of a group of provincial-level shipping industrial parks, a sustainable development experimental zone and Yangzhou (Jiangdu) Software Park.
Currently, Jiangdu Economic Development Zone is taking the lead in scientific and technological development among other provincial-level zones in Jiangsu.
