The General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council jointly issued an action plan for promoting the large-scale deployment of Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) on Sunday. The plan points out the significance of IPv6, and the general requirements and major goals of the work, including in terms of internet infrastructure and network security.
Internet protocol refers to the common rules of communication between computers. Nowadays, the global internet is communicating based on Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4).
According to the document, China will establish an independent technological system and industrial ecology for the next generation internet and build the largest IPv6 commercial application network worldwide in 5 to 10 years. China intends to achieve the deep integrated application of the next generation internet in various social and economic aspects, and become a leading force for the next generation internet.
The action plan indicates that there is a clear timetable and road map for the development of the next generation of internet in China.
