Intl tea expo quenches thirst in Guangzhou

The 2017 China (Guangzhou) International Tea Expo and the 18th Guangzhou International Tea Culture Festival opened in Guangdong province capital on Nov 23, running until Nov 27.

Held at the China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex, The five-day expo has attracted more than 800 tea brands from countries including South Korea, Sri Lanka and Malaysia as well as famous Chinese tea from 11 regions such as Yunnan province, Zhejiang province and Taiwan.

Visitors can sample different types of tea at the expo with tea sets set up at almost every booth and professional tea art specialists serving their brews to thirsty attendees. People are also able to admire delicate tea sets and tea art performances as well as other cultural activities at the expo.

According to Zhang Liming, secretary general of Guangdong Tea Profession Association, the total number of tea consumers in China is nearly 500 million and that more than 1.87 million tons of tea will be consumed in China this year alone.
