Innovation festival brings technology to daily life

After three days packed full of the latest technologies being brought to the market and inspirational speeches from industry experts, the 2017 Guangzhou International Innovation Festival came to a close at Guangzhou Library on Nov 27. 

Themed "Innovation Comes to Life", the event attracted over 1,000 sci-tech innovation experts and innovative groups from more than 50 countries and regions around the globe to take part.

The festival included an innovative enterprise exhibition, innovation and entrepreneurship competition road shows as well as over 100 booths displaying the latest products and technologies developed by leading technology companies, unicorn enterprises and renowned research institutes.

The innovative enterprises exhibition was attended by over 100 innovative groups from across the world, bringing with them a roster of innovative solutions concerning environmental protection, zero-emission driving, internet of things, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and big data.

The exhibition not only functioned as a platform to promote technological exchanges, but also enabled visitors to experience how the latest innovations complement daily life.

Highlights of the products displayed at the festival included a shirt featuring nano technology and an air conditioner controller which is based on artificial intelligence and can adjust room temperature in an intelligent energy-saving way.

Other activities held at the festival included the finals of a special innovation and entrepreneurship competition and road shows of promising Guangzhou-based technology enterprises.

The festival was hosted by Tianhe district, the foreign affairs office of Guangzhou municipal government and Guangzhou science and technology innovation commission. Distinguished guests attending the event included Dr. Yossi Vardi, founder of the Tel Aviv Innovation Festival and the honorable chairman of Guangzhou International Innovation Festival; Li Changzhu, the vice president for the consumer mobile product line of Huawei; and Josh Holmes, chief engineer of the Commercial Software Engineering in the Americas of Microsoft.
