A job fair was held on Nov 19 in Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province, to provide a matchmaking platform for over 500 foreign job-hunters and 30 companies from Guangzhou and the Pearl River Delta.

The special job fair targeting foreign talents has been held in Guangzhou the past six years, increasing in influence each time. This year jobs provided at the fair cover areas such as business management, education, international trade, biological medicine, healthcare management.

Most of the companies at the fair were state-owned enterprises, education companies and medical institutions, with China Southern Airlines and hospitals being popular resume receivers.

"We have seven foreign teachers at our school and we are still short of two or three more who can teach English and football," said a spokesperson from Guangzhou-based True Light High School, from its booth at the fair.

The job fair is the first of its kind held in Guangzhou after the government's new work permit policy "Foreigner's Work Permit" came into force from April 1 this year. The new regulation merges the work permit application process with the foreign expert work permit application and reduces paperwork in the application process.

Candidates who were unable to attend the fair are still able to view the opportunities available at www.chinajob.com.
