Guangzhou has welcomed more than 130 million visitors from January to September this year, with the figures set to hit 200 million before the end of the year, according to a Southern Metropolis Daily report on Nov 16.

The city's tourism industry revenue reached 221.4 billion yuan ($33.4 billion) from January to September, up 9.02 percent year-on-year and is expected to hit 360 billion yuan by the end of 2017.

According to the 2017 edition of Top City Destinations Ranking released recently by world's leading market research firm Euromonitor International, Guangzhou ranked 18th among 100 world-leading cities. A report released by World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) also revealed that Guangzhou ranked second in the list of World's Top 10 Fastest-Growing Tourism Cities.

Despite the achievements, Guangzhou is enhancing its efforts to further boost its tourism industry. During the Spring Festival, the city will invite 20 global tourism experts to visit Guangzhou at that time to experience the city in festival season.

According to a spokesperson from the tourism administration of Guangzhou, in the future the city will continue to improve the Nansha cruise port and launch a range of policies to boost cruise tourism. The city will also attach great importance to develop tourism projects such as Wanda Cultural Tourism City and the third phase project of Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort.
