Beibu Gulf Sports Meet underway in Zhanjiang

The opening ceremony of Beibu Gulf Sports Meet was held at Zhanjiang Sports Stadium on Nov 6, and attended by some 3,000 athletes, referees, working staffs and officials from the region.

The host team will be joined by those from Haikou, Danzhou, Beihai, Fangchenggang, Qinzhou, Yulin, Chongzuo, Maoming and Yangjiang, to compete in football, basketball, ping pong, volleyball, tennis, swimming, badminton and chess.
On Jan 20, the State Council approved the plan to construct the Beibu Gulf City Cluster, which is positioned to be a nice place to live and a window opening to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Using sports as a bridge, cities in the region are expected to further ramp up their cooperation and exchanges.
