Guangzhou to host intl design forum

More than 80 designers and city planners will convene in Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province, on Nov 9 for the first Guangzhou International Design Forum.

The three-day event, held at Guangzhou Library, will act as a platform for governments and the general public to talk about city design and development. The forum will also be a good opportunity for attendees to hear ideas on urban design from influential architecture designers, city planners and experts.

The event is composed of one main forum entitled "City of Design" and four sub-forums including "Sustainable City-International Urban Design Academic Forum", "Local Design-Architecture Forum of Guangzhou" and "Invisible City-Municipal Engineering and Public Transportation Forum".  

Distinguished guests will include He Jingtang and Zhou Fengjun, academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Thomas Herzog, famous German architect; Fuensanta Nieto, winner of famous architecture award Alvar Aalto Medal in 2015.

Highlights of the forum will include an exhibition named "He Jingtang: Design in Drastically Changing China. The exhibition gets underway on Nov 8 at Guangzhou Library and showcases famous academician He Jingtang's works in different places, cultures and times.
