Phase I of Yunfu-Zhanjiang Highway - the countdown begins

When the first phase of Yunfu-Zhanjiang Highway comes into service by the year's end, it will greatly ease traffic in western Guangdong during peak holidays, the Guangdong Transportation Group announced on Oct 31.

Stretching 315.94 kilometers, the Yunfu-Zhanjiang Highway serves as part of the Shantou-Zhanjiang Highway and will run through three cities in Guangdong, including Yunfu, Yangjiang, Maoming before ending in Zhanjiang.

Construction on the Huazhou-Zhanjiang section is already complete, laying a solid foundation for the opening of the first phase of the highway as scheduled, said a head of the project.

According to Guangdong Transportation, the Yunfu-Zhanjiang Highway will be an important channel to link Pearl River Delta with western Guangdong and Hainan Island.
