The blue economy in Fujian province has netted pretty profits in recent years, and businesses attending the 2017 Xiamen International Ocean Week from Nov 3 to 9, are hoping to reel in even more.

The global event is expected to lure representatives from 10 international blue economy organizations and 40 countries and regions.

The ocean week will be made up of four parts, including an international ocean forum, ocean-related exhibits and project matchmaking activities, a marine carnival, and introductions to marine-related knowledge and theory.

Local experts have said that the model of Ocean plus Tourism, to be promoted during the week, will help to exploit Xiamen's ocean culture and improve the coastal city's image.

A collection of activities will be organized in places rich in ocean culture to attract more citizens, including sand sculptures, a seafood festival, an international kite festival, and a water show.

The International Underwater Intervention Conference and Exhibition is a new part of the ocean week, organized by the world's three leading marine associations and attended by top companies in China such as China Communications Construction Co, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, and China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
