Vice Minister of Justice urges registration of lawyers as Party members

Xiong Xuanguo, vice-minister of justice, presided over the first meeting of the Party committee for instruction of lawyer practice on Nov1 to publicize the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress.

Xiong also allocated Party work and stated new requirements for the work of the Party committee and specific committee members.

Xiong pointed out that for Party building, it’s required to solve serious existing problems while giving full play to the Party’s leading role.

Party member registration should be required among lawyers to calculate the exact number of party members who are also lawyers and ensure that every lawyer is subject to administration by the Party.

A multi-channel and diversified fundraising system should be established to guarantee Party building expenditures. And administrative organizations of justice should work to seek financial support and consider Party building expenditures in lawyer practice in their budgets, Xiong said.

Xiong also said that it’s necessary to strengthen commendation work such as promoting the deeds of Party organizations and members in the legal field to boost their social awareness and reputation. Xiong pointed out that it’s important to identify and commend advanced Party organizations and outstanding Party members.

Xiong added that to protect the lawyers’ practice rights, it’s required to listen to their voices and help them solve the problems in their practices.

The Party committee was established on Oct 26 with Xiong Xuanguo as its chief.
