A total of 3,678 prefabricated sets of stainless steel made by Xingxin Ouya Stainless Steel Ware were cleared by customs to be exported to Switzerland on Oct 25,the first batch of articles exported from Guangzhou Customs to the country using the new Declaration of Origin process.

Commonly, when exporting goods to Switzerland, Chinese enterprises need to provide a Certificate of Origin to Swiss customs. However, due to a free trade agreement signed between China and Switzerland on July 1, 2014, companies can now just provide Declaration of Origin and do not have to pay tariffs.

The Declaration of Origin refers to a document with a formal declaration from the manufacturer, supplier and exporter of the goods. The special document has changed the pattern of exporting from applying for government certification to providing declaration on their initiatives, which saves both time and effort.

Many exporters had a range of misgivings when the Declaration of Origin was promoted in the jurisdiction of Guangzhou Customs. However, the department has established a special mechanism with Swiss Customs to solve any problems.

Currently, any enterprise that has been registered as a senior manufacturing enterprise by Guangzhou Customs can export their products to Switzerland using a Declaration of Origin. As of now, a total of 135 companies under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou Customs have been eligible to export their products in this way.
