Cervical cancer vaccination available in Guangzhou

Citizens of southern Chinese city of Guangzhou can now receive cervical cancer vaccination injections in the city's hospitals as the first batch of vaccines recently arrived in Guangzhou.

The vaccines will soon be available in more than 120 community hospitals in Guangzhou and female citizens from the ages of nine to 25 can get appointed for their inoculation.

In early July last year, cervical cancer vaccine was approved by the State Food and Drug Administration, for which many women in Guangzhou have been longing for. 

The bivalent cervical cancer vaccines are priced at about 600 yuan ($91) and those who want to get the vaccination need to take three injections. With the total amount reaching just 1,800 yuan, it is cheaper to get inoculated in Guangzhou than in Hong Kong.

In China, the incidence and death rate of cervical cancer ranked number one in female reproductive system malicious tumor and every year, more than 100,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and 30 percent of them die of the disease. The vaccination will protect women from cervical cancer at a rate of more than 93.2 percent.
