Foreign Minister Wang Yi meets with outgoing Indian Ambassador to China Vijay Gokhale

On October 20, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with outgoing Indian Ambassador to China Vijay Gokhale.

Speaking positively of Vijay Gokhale’s efforts in promoting China-India relations during his tenure, Wang Yi expressed that China and India, as important neighboring countries as well as two major developing countries, share far more common interests than differences. Both sides should take the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries as guidance, always give top priority to maintain overall bilateral relations, strengthen mutual strategic trust, expand cooperation areas and properly manage differences, so as to make greater contributions to boosting the development of Asia and promoting world peace and development.

Vijay Gokhale thanked China for providing support during his term of office and expressed that India highly values its relations with China, and is willing to work with China to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various areas, in a bid to push bilateral relations for stable and forward-looking development along the right track.
